PDC International said its KST 55-710 machine can run shrink sleeve labels, or a combination of tamper evident labels, at slow and moderate speeds. The machine, designed for smaller spaces, meets the demand for faster product changeover at plants, where managers must adjust processes to meet quickly changing consumer tastes. The shrink tunnel can be used by contract packers in the food, beverage and dairy industries, and manufacturers of personal care products, PDC stated. The KST 55-710 is designed with adjustments for steam volume, flow and nozzle position in a more compact design than PDC International's previously released models. "This allows precise application of steam to specific points on the package, for best-possible aesthetics and minimal risk of bottle distortion at a very attractive price point," the company stated. Containers can be filled or empty, as well as of any shape, including round, oval and square, the company stated. It handles PVC, PETG, OPS and PLA films, in gauges as thin as 40 micron. The KST 55-710 can also be used for full body shrink labels and multipacking. PDC also provides options such as steam filtration to .5 micron to supply culinary grade steam and stainless steel tunnel stands. An available package has a thermostatically-controlled electronic temperature regulator, which can be ramped up quickly for fast steam delivery. The package is designed to saves energy by metering steam in precise amounts. A powered venting manifold and condensate recovery system are also available as options.
