Flow-wrapper targets self service bakery

Spanish firm Ulma Packaging has increased its foothold in the bakery sector with the launch of new flow-wrapping equipment.

The Florida E flow-wrapper is a horizontal fill and seal operation suitable for packaging fresh bread in a range of formats such as loaves, baguettes or slices.

Ulma, which also provides for the confectionery and biscuit markets, is hoping to boost its baking operations with the new bread packaging machine and target mid-sized bakeries specialising in free service or self service sales.

The company stated: "The recently updated Florida E flow-wrapper is suitable for a wide range of bakery applications - offering construction quality, reliability ease of use, hygiene and ergonomy."

The machine joins the existing Florida range of horizontal fill and seal flow-wrappers.

As with the original Florida 1 version, cellulose or polypropylene films can be used and packages adjusted according to product length.

Ulma estimate the machine can process up to 150 per minute, depending on the product.

In addition to the Florida line, Ulma also supply equipment for stretched film packaging, thermoforming tray sealers and shrink wrapping.

Of particular interest to bakers with medium to high volume production is the Atlanta flow-wrapper.

According to Ulma: "It combines robustness, high versatility and speed with ease of use, excellent design and high performance. This machine can easily incorporate a wide range of automatic and semiautomatic feeders and its three independent motors are synchronized by means of an electronic control."
