Multi-lane aseptic machine packs low-acid foods

A new machine for the aseptic packaging low acid food products can handle a range of products atthe same time.

IWKA Packaging USA claims its SAS 20/30 is the first multi-lane machine to package low acid food products aseptically, increasing their shelf life to a year without refrigeration.

The SAS 20/30's multi-lane system allows it to produce up to 24,000 aseptic liquid stick-packs perhour, the company stated. The design also enables the packaging of different substances or flavors simultaneously on one machine.As such it provides processors with flexibility to make changeovers quickly or cater to a number ofvariations of their brands.

The SAS 20/30 meets all US and international hygiene standards, including the Food and DrugAdministration's Code of Federal Regulations 21. The regulations government hygiene requirements formachines used by the food industry.

The machine can package low acid foods, such as cheese and puddings, that have first been processedaseptically. The self-contained SAS 20/30 automatically manages its own pre-sterilization and sterilization processes then constantly monitors all critical parameters to ensure that an asepticenvironment is maintained.
