Breather helps food plants keep humidity out of lubricating fluids

A dessicant breather helps food companies cut down on the extreme humidity that can occur during in-plant steam cleaning operations.

In certain extreme operating environments such as in a food processing plant where regular steam cleaning occurs, the humidity level far exceeds normal industrial environments.

In these situations, lubricants and other fluids stored in tanks and reservoirs need the protection of a desiccant breather.

Trico Mfg. Corp. said its Watchdog EX series of breathers incorporate two check valves, one to control airflow into the protected reservoir, the other to control airflow output.

The process prolongs life of desiccant by allowing air to flow through breather only when needed to protect the integrity of the tank. This provides advantages of breathing air in and out of a tank while removing water vapor and solid particles before they can contaminate fluids.

"Unlike a membrane system, which does not allow internally generated gases and contaminants to exit the system, the Watchdog EX Breather offers all of the advantages of breathing air in and out of the tank while removing water vapor and solid particles before they contaminate the fluid," the company stated.
