Sidel and its subsidiary Simonazzi will be joining forces for the forthcoming Anuga expo in Germany, where it will be revealing the group's new structure and introducing a range of new solutions for packaging liquid foods in glass, PET and cans.

The two companies joined forces at the end of 2005 to forge a new market player in the packaging of liquid foods and beverages. Jointly exhibiting for the first time, the Anuga FoodTec 2006 will also be the first time the Sidel Group will introduce its five current brands - Sidel, Simonazzi, Alfa, Gebo, and Cermex - to the public arena.

The show, which is on from from 4 to 7 April will, see all of the groups brands unveiling latest technologies at stand H10/K19, in Hall 7.Those technologies will include new materials for sensitive products, such as bi-oriented PP, PLS and LacPet; the group's new linear blow-moulder; solutions for filling pasteurized and ESL dairy products; together with labelling and hot filling solutions.

The company says it will also be focusing on the milk market, with filling being singled out as being particularly important. This focus will see the group showing the Sidel GWm, a low-to-high speed gravity weight filler, which has now been extended to cover pasteurized milk products.

The versatile GW platform is said to handle all kinds of plastic bottles at output rates from 3,000 to 40,000 bph. With the bottom transfer system, HDPE bottles of up to 5 L can easily be transported.

The automatic weight correction and double flow filling head, also means that a higher level of filling accuracy can be achieved. The filling operation is PLC controlled and the cleaning processes are automated.

Moving on to ESL products, the company will also be explaining how its FMm platform covers three different hygiene levels - Classic, Select, and Ultra - for shelf-life requirements of up to 90 days.

For ESL applications, the multi-starwheel bottle transport system is said to assure high efficiencies and has been designed for bottles handled by the neck. In this configuration the bottles are sanitized and rinsed on dedicated wheels.

The company also says that the filler can handle all kinds of plastic bottles at output rates from 6,000 to 50,000 bph, while the flowmeter filling system has a high level of accuracy with no product loss before or after production.

The ESL version of the FMm can be supplied in two different configurations -Sidel FMm filler and Sidel FMm in Combi configuration.

In the area of Aseptic filling Sidel will feature its FMi aseptic filler for sensitive still products offering high hygiene safety standard. At a maximum speed of 50,000 bph the company says that the bottles are transferred by the neck through the various stations of the filling machine.

The equipment has been also been optimised with new key features, including a new wastewater recirculation system - approximately 70 per cent of rinsing water re-used.
