Tray machine provides all-in-one package

Multivac's Traysealer T350 WL is a new version of the company's T 350 model, which automates packaging, weighing and labeling in the same machine.

The T 350 WL can be used to package any type of food product, Multivac said in a press release. It can beused for tray sealing fresh meat, game, poultry, processed meat, cheese, ready meals and meal components, vegetables, salads and olives, pasta, bakery products, fish and seafood and dried fruit.

The tray transfer system of the T 350 WL takes the completed package of food from a sealing die and positions it above the weighing system, which consists of a servo-driven conveyor belt with anintegrated weighing cell.

The scale uses the subtraction weighing process, in which the scale is zeroed on the empty tray weight, to determine how much food is in each tray. The scale has a weighing range of 20 to 7,500grams per weighing cycle. It can also handle extreme pack sizes. The weighing machine can process up to 36 trays per minute.

The labels can be designed on a standard computer, so their content can be adapted easily on-site. The machine handles maximum label dimensions of 100mm x 100mm. The variable data is printed by athermal transfer printing head. The tops of the packages are labelled on the integrated discharge conveyor of the T 350 WL.

The label applicator operates independently of the product surface and the labels are applied on a non-contact basis by compressed air.

Multivac's Traysealer T 350, the original model on which the T 350 WL is based, is designed for small and medium-sized businesses that want a fully automated packing machine.

The machine is designed for quick changeovers for handling different tray shapes and sizes. The machine uses ready-made sealable trays made from mono or multilayer films, including foamed material, board and aluminium trays with a sealable coating.
