Markem delivers updated printhead technology

Print firm Markem has developed small character ink jet coders that it claims can integrate easily into any packaging line.

The range has been specifically designed for coding on flexible packaging films and foils, individual cartons, HDPE bottles and packages, and, it is claimed, delivers high reliability, safe and clean operation.

Design characteristics include machine modularity for quick and easy cleaning, maintenance and repair; TouchDry hot-melt solid inks, which allow for a clean and environmentally friendly coding process with no lost time for cleanup of spills and are easy and quick to add during operation.

The use of advanced printhead technology delivering a MTBF of over 10,000 hours.

Markem claims that this updated printhead technology increases reliability to and requires less maintenance. Features of the advanced printhead manufacturing technology include epoxy-bonded flexible circuits to prevent misalignment and jet dropout and a primary filter housed in a machined and threaded aluminium block for stronger construction.

The filter relocation is also designed to deliver cleaner operation and longer life, while the recalibrated jet velocity provides greater code consistency over time.Productivity is never disrupted with Markem's small character ink jet coders, as ink replenishment, legend creation and legend changes can be completed during production.

In addition to the other benefits of the small character ink jet coders, Markem also offers the Uptime Total Services Programme - a comprehensive array of services that maximise uptime, productivity and customer satisfaction around the world. The programme includes everything from reliability-centred maintenance programmes and professional on-site installations, to the unique myMarkem internet portal, which gives users online access to information and documentation.
