Habasit launches high-friction plastic modular belt

Lightweight conveyor belt manufacturer Habasit has launched a
plastic modular belt that offers the largest high friction rubber
contact surface available in the industry.

The M2540 Radius GripTop 1" combines a sideflexing modular belt with a high-friction rubber overlay. This, says the company, makes the belt ideal for general material handling applications where steep inclines and declines - in combination with turns - are required or where the centrifugal forces of fast running belts tend to displace or disorient conveyed products.

Habasit says that the product is particularly well suited for the transport of boxes, crates and unwrapped food products.

Modular conveyor belts are increasingly finding favour among manufacturers who appreciate their flexibility. Most systems consist of connecting rods that join individual modules together, giving processors far more options than a traditional flat belt system would. In addition, there are no tracking problems to deal with.

In addition to the general advantages of the patented M2540 product line, including the Radius Flush Grid and Roller Top belts, Habasit claims that the M2540 Radius GripTop 1" is the strongest 1" pitch plastic Radius belt available.

With an open area of 20 per cent and a collapse factor of 2.2 (Inner radius of the belt = 2.2 times the width of the belt), the M2540 Radius GripTop 1" also allows longer conveyor lengths, eliminating the need for additional conveyors and drive motors.

As a result, the displacement or disorientation of product as it is transferred from one conveyor to the next is prevented.

The M2540 Radius GripTop 1" is driven by universal 1" sprockets which are also suitable for more than ten other M2500 1" HabasitLINK belt types - a feature unique to Habasit that the company claims helps customers greatly simplify the complexity of their plant's modular belt inventory and maintenance.

GripTop and standard modules may be combined in one belt. Side guards and hold-down tabs are also available.
