Klöckner launches new freezer grade films

A new line of Pentafood vinyl films offering what is claimed to be exceptional cold crack properties for food packaging applications has been launched by Klöckner Pentaplast.

Pentafood FD-M188/22 offers a freezer-safe thermoformable film which is suited to form/fill/seal food packaging applications. Its rigidity allows for package integrity and increased productivity resulting in production cost savings, the company claims.

In addition, Klöckner Pentaplast's FDA/EU compliant Pentafood FD-M188/22 films have excellent cosmetics for superb product visibility. The films are heat sealable to many substrates and are radio frequency (RF) sealable.

"Our customers are always looking for new film options and ways to improve productivity and we are constantly exploring new materials to expand their options," commented Chris Findley, Klöckner Pentaplast's business manager for food packaging films, the group's US division.

"Along with our existing Pentafood vinyl, BAREX, APET, PETG, HIPS, and PP films, Klöckner Pentaplast continues to provide our customers with the broadest selection of high-quality films for food applications in the industry."

Founded in the US in 1977, Klöckner Pentaplast Inc, is the largest producer of high-quality rigid films in the Americas and part of the German-based group Klöckner Pentaplast Gmbh.

The company's product line includes vinyl, polyester, polypropylene, high-impact polystyrene (HIPS), BAREX, ACLAR-laminated, COC-laminated and -coated, and PVDC-coated films for pharmaceutical, medical device, food, electronics, and general-purpose thermoform packaging, as well as printing and specialty applications.

Currently the group's European division is showcasing its latest technologies at the Salon d'Emballage expo in Paris. Situated in Hall 5a, stand 040, the division will be exhibiting until 26 November.
