New Hueck lidding foil seals against Aclar

Hueck Folien, one of the largest European foil converters in the flexible packaging sector, has introduced an aluminium lidding foil which is sealable against Aclar, a widely used material in blister films.

The company said that use of the new foil improves the moisture barrier of Aclar blister packs by 10 to 15 per cent or more, due to a reduction in the exposed outer edge. This improvement ties in with the shift towards the use of thinner Aclar in conjunction with PVC films.

Blister films are increasingly being used by confectionery firms to package products such as chewing gum and sweets.

The requirement to develop an aluminium lidding foil sealable against Aclar came from the realisation that using film laminate where Aclar film has been on the outside has created an exposed outer edge of the PVC layer, and this has been a path for significant moisture ingress.

The new lidding is compliant with regulatory standards in both Germany and the US and is also registered in the Hueck Drug Master File DMF 7273.

Hueck's main customers are middle sized and multinational companies in the food, dairy, confectionery/food, beverages and pharmaceutical/healthcare industries. Its inhouse processes are laminating, metallisation, heat-seal and protective lacquering as well as manufacturing the own lacquers.
