Many tanks

UK-based Carlisle Process Systems is extending its range of
stainless steel mobile tanks to include a new model capable of
minimising waste. The new machine features a mirror finish to both
internal and external surfaces, which helps to ensure that high
value viscous products are fully drained.

In addition, these units are designed for pressure and vacuum operation for filling and emptying. Typical applications include convenience food liquids like gravy, desserts, creams, yoghurts, custards and sauces. Carlisle Process Systems believes that the new product, which will be sold by its dairy, food and beverage division, will enable the company to offer a total solution concept to an even bigger market.

"We have been offering mobile tanks and intermediate bulk containers of numerous shapes and sizes for a number of years and arising from customer demand, it seemed a natural progression to introduce a wider more formal mobile tank range," said Charles Todd, the company general manager. "The tanks are ideal for most kinds of liquids and we have already had many supportive comments from our existing customer base as well as interest from potential new customers."

Carlisle Process Systems believes the tanks, which will sell under the Wincanton brand name, will complement its existing liquid processing products. These include homogenisers, plate heat exchangers, separators, membrane filtration plants, process vessels and mixing and blending systems.

All Wincanton mobile tanks are designed for the transportation or storage of non-hazardous products in capacities ranging from 100 to 1,000 litres and are ideal for use in any liquid handling application within the dairy, food, beverage, brewing, pharmaceutical and other processing industries. Carlisle says the vessels can be single skin or fitted with heating/cooling jackets and/or insulation and cladding and are available for pressure, vacuum or atmospheric operation. Mounting frames can include wheels or forklift truck handling with stacking facilities if required.

The development of the Wincanton product brand name and the successful acquisition of products like a scraped surface heat exchanger have allowed the processing of ever thicker viscous products such as rice puddings and custards.

The company is now skid-mounting a significant number of its Wincanton branded products such as continuous pasteurisers and cleaning-in-place systems so that production downtime during installation is kept to a minimum. "The decision to offer mobile tanks has already resulted in a number of orders which justifies our decision to expand," said Paul Griffin, business development manager for the dairy, food and beverage group. "As a company we are continually looking for new products to offer our customers, to ensure that we stay at the forefront of the industry."

Carlisle Process Systems is a global provider of hygienic liquid process systems with three internal operations to reflect the markets it serves. These are the cheese group, the dairy, food & beverage group and the manufacturing group. To meet on-going demand for its equipment, production at Carlisle Process System's factory has recently established lean techniques which give it the capability of a quick turnaround in equipment manufacture by using standardised modules and components all within compliance of its ISO9001 - 2000 quality system.
