Packaging Progressions, manufacturers of a full range of stainless steel food packaging and processing equipment have revealed a new solution for the bakery packaging industry.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved PPI-200, is a new innovation designed to revolutionise the packaging processes of several different food groups including dough, pizza and pasta portions, by inserting, accurately and consistently, a pre-programmed sheet of film, foil or paper under dough portions at speeds of up to 1100 per hour, per lane.

Once the sheet has been placed under the dough, it may be folded or wrapped around the product for ease of separation, sanitary handling and with foil sheets, box to oven baking.

The stacking modules of the process automatically count and stack the interleaved portions into uniform groups. The uniform stacked groups are then conveyed to your wrapping or cartoning machines, or can be easily packed off by hand.

The PPI-200 was manufactured using stainless steel construction, a necessary step to ensure compliance with the industry's latest sanitation standards. The company believe that the solution blends state of the art control with a durable design that ensures a lengthy machine life and low maintenance.

This new solution although costly in the short term, will significantly reduce labour costs in the long-term as it is fully-automated and has many highly controlled, synchronised computer drives.
