A new range of children's snacks has been launched by award winning children's food manufacturer Organix Goodies. The new array of 11 organic snacks comes with a 'No Junk Promise' to parents.

The company have revealed the snack will contain just one tenth of the maximum recommended daily level of salt for young children per day and no colours, artificial flavourings or preservatives of any kind will be used, but replaced with just natural ingredients, bringing their own natural colours and flavours. The snacks are free of natural processed sweeteners, relying on the fruit content to naturally enrich. Each ingredient is certified by the Soil Association.

The new Organix Goodies range are available from all major supermarket retail outlets such as Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury and Asda. Packet Snacks are priced at £0.35 each (€0.5), and cereal bars £0.49.

Uniquely, Organix Brands also endorses the recommendation of the Food Commission that snacks should be fed to children a maximum of twice a week. The Food Commission strongly believes that daily snacking makes children less likely to eat their meals and their nutrient intake is lower as a result.

Founder of Organix, Lizzie Vann MBE, has worked with parents and children to develop the Organix cookie range. She commented;

"Most children eat snacks regularly. But the choice is available to parents until now has always contained ingredients that are not good for children. For example, the flavour enhancer Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), which the government itself recommends is not fed to children up to the agree of three. MSG is used to make bland food tasty. Our approach with Goodies has instead been to use large amounts of tasty real foods such as organic corn, rice and oats, as well as mature cheddar cheese and Italian Plum tomatoes.

We've banned the use of all food colourings, even natural ones, in our foods, and reduced the salt content to less than one quarter of that found in some bigger brands of savoury snacks. While higher levels can be more easily tolerated by adults, the needs of children are much less, a maximum of 2g salt per day until the child reaches the age of four.

In addition, our sweet snacks, such as the Fruity Bars and Animal Biscuits contain no processed sugar. This is a first in the UK, a biscuit made from using fruit rather than processed sugar."

Organix has over 50 organic recipes in its range, including baby and toddler meals in jars for babies from four months, seven months and twelve months and a variety of infant snacks. Founded in 1992 by Lizzie Vann, Organix has followed its philosophy of tasty and nutritious foods, after realising the poor quality and blandness of some of the exisitng baby foods on the market.
