Arca Systems has won a long-term contract with Valio, the biggest dairy in Finland, to supply new combination crates for dairy products at a value of €2.2 million over a five year period.

Valio is engaged in processing and marketing milk, dairy products and other food products in Finland and through its subsidiaries in Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Sweden, Belgium and the United States. In 2002 Valio's net turnover was €1.6 billion, of which foreign operations account for one third.

Arca Systems will supply new combination crates for cheese, yoghurt, butter, margarine and other processed dairy products. This new product will replace one-way cardboard packaging and has a big environmental effect, the company claims. Growing environmental awareness in Valio is placing increasing demands on recycling and reuse. The new crates, produced with a very high two-component technology in Arca Systems can be recycled on a long-term basis. As part of the contract Arca Systems will supply all the necessary combination crates to Valio over the five-year period.

"With this new agreement we will contribute to strengthening and developing our customer Valio's leading position and support environmental issues, and also further strengthen our own position in Finland, making us a partner for global players in the market", underlines Wiking Henricsson, president & CEO of Arca Systems.

Arca Systems operates in 30 countries in Europe, North America and Asia, and is a market leader in products and systems for materials handling. Arca Systems' head office is located in Perstorp, southern Sweden. The company has a turnover of SEK1.8 billion (€199.2 million), with 93 per cent of its sales outside Sweden and has approximately 900 employees.
