After extensive research packaging provider Huhtamaki Nederlands has launched its fruit and vegetable trays in a new colour - black. The new range is said to contrast well with products, providing added appeal.

Consumers mainly buy fruit and vegetables by appearance, which means that perfect care and presentation plus effective protection of the products are of major importance. The moulded fibre fruit and vegetable trays from Huhtamaki, with their standard fresh green and bright blue colours, have been providing successful solutions for a long time. These moulded fibre trays are completely biodegradable, can be entirely recycled and are ISEGA certified for fruit and vegetables.

After extensive colour and presentation tests, Huhtamaki Nederland has added black trays for its Fulvue and Shopak ranges. The deep black colour is said to have proved an ideal, non-dominant background that forms a clear contrast to fruit and vegetables, highlighting their colours, shapes and structure with more intensity. This adds an extra dimension to the contoured Fulvue trays, which are particularly suitable for packaging apples and citrus fruit, and to the flat Shopak trays, which are just right for produce like kiwis, tomatoes and chicory.

The company claims that its moulded fibre packaging is internationally recognised as for its blend of presentation and protection in a single packaging for delicate products. Contributing factors to this reputation are the light weight, high shock absorbency, environmentally-friendly use, infinite variety of shapes and exceptionally advantageous economic nature of moulded fibre, combined with the company's expertise in this field.
