UK-based Ishida Europe has announced it will be demonstrating a complete single-source tray packing line at the Scanpack exhibition taking place 21 - 24 October 2003 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Comprising tray denesting, multihead weighing, tray filling and sealing, weigh-price-labelling and pick-and-place casepacking, Ishida's fully-integrated tray packing system aims to enable significant improvements in weighing and packing speed and efficiency.
Ishida's tray packing lines have been designed for both free-flowing and sticky fresh foods such as vegetables, fruit, salads, meat, poultry, fish, seafood and ready meals. Additional features, such as a webcam and mobile gantry, have been incorporated to maximise ease of operation and control, said Ishida in a statement.
"Complete integration of all the elements of a tray packing line should improve throughput and productivity, reduce labour costs, cut waste and downtime, and unharness unique efficiencies," continued Ishida, adding that "payback periods are shown to be surprisingly low in this type of installation".
Claimed to be suitable for a large number of food and non-food applications, the new EM series utilises state-of-the-art weighing technology, designed to provide a high level of efficiency and a good return on investment. A variety of specifications - such as embossed surfaces, various feeder and discharge chute angles and different types of radial feeders and hoppers - are available, in an effort to meet the precise needs of individual manufacturers and packers.
According to Ishida, the model on show will be a 14 head waterproof version, which is built to IP 66 specification for easy high pressure cleaning.
Also on show will be a model from the company's new EM series of mid-range multihead weighers - claimed to be ideal for both new multihead weigher users and standard applications.
