Rapak, a market leader in the supply of bag-in-box filling systems to food and drink companies, has launched a new range of fillers which are aimed to offer greater compatibility.

The range - comprising Autokap, Steri-Kap and Intasept models, along with the optional Ultra Clean fill head configuration - offers a choice of aseptic, non-aseptic and extended shelf-life filling for products such as wine, milk, milkshakes, cream, liquid eggs, sauces and syrups.

A choice of configurations and options for fill heads, cap/gland tooling and loading systems enables Rapak to tailor each machine to particular customer requirements, while advanced technology means the fillers offer some of the highest outputs in Europe.

Autokap models provide multi-purpose clean filling for a variety of products including chemicals, wine, milk, edible oil, fruit fillings and post-mix syrup.

For filling under commercially sterile conditions for extended shelf-life products, such as milk, milkshake mixes, juice and liquid eggs, the Steri-Kap steam chamber system aims to ensure product integrity with filling undertaken in a controlled atmosphere, whilst all product surfaces can be cleaned after every cycle.

Rapak says that both the Autokap and Steri-Kap models can be specified with the optional Ultra-Clean filling head, which aims to increase market trend towards extended shelf life products such as milk, cream, juices and food ingredients. Rapak is the first Bag-in-Box company to achieve EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering Design Group) accreditation for this new head, which offers a standard for non-aseptic clean filling higher than anything previously achieved in the bag-in-box market to meet the stringent EHEDG regulations that are now a pre-requisite for most European dairies.

Rapak says that sterility is provided by its Intasept aseptic fillers, which give optimum filling for long life dairy products and other shelf stable foods. The membrane system ensures a full hermetic seal both before and after fill.

All models in the new filler range feature high levels of automation and touch screen controls, the company claims. Servo drive systems allow fast, multi-position strokes and repeatable feeds with acceleration and deceleration set to bag size, plus automatic bag size and cap height changes.

Rapak Bag-in-Box filling systems are available for most liquid operations, for pack sizes from 2litres to 1000litre/300 gallon IBC, including 220 litre/55 gallon drum liners.

A modular design with common electrical controls, pneumatics and bag into box loading systems, ensures ease of maintenance and upgrading of equipment.
