Suominen Flexible Packaging is to preview a number of its new packaging solutions at the ELKO 2003 fair, to be held in Helsinki, Finland next week.
Suominen will be introducing a polyethylene multi-layer film, which the company says is a new alternative for polypropylene film. Due to its multi-layer structure, the new film is a durable packaging material, even if it is considerably thinner than traditional one-layer films. This material is also said to be frostproof, which gives an additional benefit for the packaging of bakery products.
The company will also unveil another film material, which is suited for packaging root crops. This film is also made using a multi-layer technique, which allows it to sustain hard exertion in fast automatic packaging machines. The pigmented coat protects the bag content from the adverse effect of light, giving it total protection and preventing root produce from turning green, which can improve sustainability of produce such as packaged potatoes.
New resealable polyethylene and polypropylene bags will also be previewed. The bags have a separate resealable zipper-closure which enables them to be opened and closed as many times as wanted and a product is still preserved and fresh. The resealable bags are suitable for the packaging of bakery products.
ELKO 2003 will be held at the Helsinki Fair Centre between 14 and 16 May and Suominen will be found at stand (4a12).
