Arkady Craigmillar taps into bakery trends

Arkady Craigmillar, the UK-based supplier of frozen bakery products for the foodservice sector, has launched a range of mini doughnuts and three new luxury products, tapping into the current crazes for miniature products and indulgent foodstuffs.

UK consumers are currently in the midst of a craze for all things miniature, and there is further evidence today to support that claim.

Arkady Craigmillar, the British supplier of bakery ingredients and frozen speciality bakery products to professional bakers and chefs, has extended its popular Goldfrost frozen doughnut range to include fun-size and mini versions of its plain ring and sugared jam ball doughnuts.

The 24g Mini Ring Doughnut, supplied in a 90-unit case, is unsugared to enable caterers to finish the product as they wish. Sugar, dusted icing sugar, crembel fudge icing or simple water icing can all be used to provide a variety of alternatives to the simple plain doughnut. At 50g and available in 72-unit cases, the Fun Size Ball Doughnut is the mini alternative to the Goldfrost sugared jam ball doughnut.

Kerrie Hampson, head of marketing at Arkady Craigmillar, said: "Our standard ring and sugared jam doughnuts proved very successful. This fact, combined with the popularity of miniature options, made the line extensions a natural move for us.

"However, this reduction in size does not mean a reduction in taste, and we continue to offer the customer great-tasting, irresistible doughnuts, which can satisfy even the sweetest tooth. We believe these new miniature doughnuts are ideally suited to a wide variety of operators, including foodservice, local authorities and cost sector caterers."

The Goldfrost standard range includes Double Chocolate Ball Doughnuts, Lemon Glazed Ring Doughnuts, plus Chocolate and Nut Filled Ring Doughnuts, and the company has also this week announced the launch of three new luxury products designed to meet increasing demand in the foodservice market for ready-to-sell premium doughnuts.

The 30g Topped Mini Ring Doughnut is covered with white crembel and sprinkled with multi-coloured sugar strands. Supplied in a 60-unit case, it is said to be ideal for all types of bakery and foodservice providers.

The 50g Lemon Glazed Ring Doughnut is a moist doughnut, glazed with a glossy lemon flavoured sugar coat and suitable for all bakery operators, while the 65g Choc and Nut Filled Ring Doughnut is topped with white nougat and finished with roasted hazelnuts. This rather more indulgent product is aimed at cafés, universities and hotels, the company said.

Hampson said that the addition of the three new products meant that Arkady Craigmillar could now " offer a doughnut for every possible occasion and every taste, without compromising on customer satisfaction".
