Körber PaperLink forms new packaging division

Körber Paperlink, the German-based paper group, has formed a new packaging division through its merger with Italian companies Casmatic, Wrapmatic and Innopack, all of which are based in Bologna.

The move aims to strengthen Körber PaperLink's packaging activities for the international paper, tissue and absorbent hygiene market by merging the three companies. The new company will be called KPL Packaging and will also be located in Bologna.

Körber claims that with the combined know-how of the market leaders Casmatic and Wrapmatic, KPL Packaging will be the packaging specialist for all related industries on a worldwide basis.

US-based Pemco, manufacturer of cut-size wrapping and cartonising technology, will continue its activities as the key North American manufacturing location for Körber PaperLink's packaging activities.

Körber also stated that the organisational change will concentrate the competences and offer state of the art technology to all of its existing customers, which currently include: E.C.H. Will, Kugler-Womako, Pemco, Fabio Perini and future KPL Packaging. The packaging machines and technologies will continue to be manufactured under the names of Wrapmatic, Casmatic and Pemco.

Körber PaperLink says that the move will allow the group to offer more competitive technology to its customers and gain efficiency by producing machines in two different currency regions, which increase the proximity to the market.
