Ishida Europe, a leading supplier of complete weighing and packing line solutions, will be exhibiting its product range at the Hispack 2003 show in Barcelona from 31 March - 4 April.
The highlights will be a high speed weighing and packing system designed specifically for the snack food industry and a new multihead weigher for salads.
Also on display at the Hispack exhibition will be Ishida's Atlas CPS (complete packing system for snacks). According to Ishida, this is a fully integrated system designed to maximise packing speed and efficiency in the snack food industry. It comprises a weighing and bagmaking system, checkweighing with integrated metal detection, and a pick-and-place casepacker for complete automation of end of line pack handling.
Reportedly reaching speeds of up to 160 packs per minute, the CPS has been designed to permit significant improvements in packing line speeds, while simultaneously minimising downtime and waste and maintaining product and package quality.
Ishida has also announced its development, in partnership with salad packers, of a high performance multihead weigher for salads. All of the machine's contact surfaces are designed to ease product movement across the top of the weigher and to facilitate consistent product transfer into the packaging machine.
Due to the difficulty of handling salad leaves, the machine has been fitted with Pulse Width Modulation (PMW) technology, thus permitting the easier movement of salad leaves through the weigher. The company states that "this provides a powerful, controlled and consistent vibration pulse for dispersion and radial feeders and is simply set up via the weigher's remote control unit". The pulse can be automatically adjusted during production.
Other products on show will include a new waterproof medium range multihead weigher, a hygienic checkweigher for the fresh food industry, the world's smallest multihead weigher (as claimed by Ishida) for applications such as seeds, herbs, spices and tea, and a linear multihead weigher specifically designed for sticky products such as fresh meat, poultry, fish, ready meals and fruit.
