US processing and packaging equipment supplier Reiser is stepping up its presence in the important UK bakery market with the launch of new equipment from the German Vemag stable.
Reiser's UK division is already an established supplier to the UK bakery market, and with the introduction of the multiple application Vemag 500 and HP15 the company is aiming to build on this position.
The company has been selling other Vemag equipment into the meat and bakery industries for a number of years. Now the Vemag 500 and HP15, which incorporate the same German technology to meet the needs of the meat processing industry, are being offered to the bakery sector.
Reiser's Vemag 500 is designed for smaller volume production and the HP15 for large volume production, although each is said to be able to cope with seven different applications. They are depositors, fillers, dividers, sheeters, formers, extruders and portioners. Reiser also claims that the equipment is a space-saving solution, allowing one Vemag to take the place of several existing pieces of machinery.
Central to the new Vemag models, which Reiser's managing director Dave Roberts expects to take the UK bakery sector by storm, are their attachments, each having a role in the overall solution. There is a guillotine cut-off attachment to produce portions of precise size and weight, and a dripless valve addition capable of filling a variety of containers without mess. There is also a rotary sheeter to extrude smooth uniform sheets and a water wheel attachment for the production of multiple lane portions at precise weights.
Reiser claims that the new equipment can handle all types of baking processes - whether it be with trays, oven bands, freezer belts, make-up lines or pre-formed trays. It can also cater to a range of different styles of product, from cookie dough to scones and muffin batter.
Both Vemag models are equipped with a portioning computer, which is said to be simple to operate and which can store multiple programmes. All the machines are built in stainless steel for ease of cleaning and the maintenance of hygiene.
Additionally, both the HP15 and the 500 are capable of reaching a portioning speed of up to 200 a minute with portion weights capable of being set in increments from 5-60,000 grams in the HP15 and 5-30,000 grams in the smaller model. This weighs in at just 400 kg.
Further adding to production flexibility, two of the machines can be used together with a Reiser-engineered coextrusion attachment to produce an assortment of filled products.
Roberts said: "We are already established suppliers to the bakery sector and believe that the new Vemags will prove a big hit with the nation's bakers. But if it is possible to sum the machines up in just two words then versatility and dependability are the two main features. These are some of the chief reasons why we expect the Vemags to become the most widely used piece of equipment in bakeries."
Reiser has been selling and servicing high-quality food processing and packaging equipment to the meat, seafood, bakery and dairy industries for over 40 years. Its UK product line includes tray sealing, vacuum and form/fill/seal packaging equipment to machines used for stuffing, portioning, grinding, injecting, extruding, filling, sealing and slicing.
