GSE unveils updated process automation system

GSE Systems, a leading global provider of real-time process control and simulation solutions for the food and beverage industry, has launched a new version of its Process Automation System, D/3(R).

This new version introduces smaller footprint process control module (PCM) hardware, leveraging PCI technology as well as state of the art dynamic alarm handling, saving operators time with its intuitive software interface, the company claims.

The latest version is also said to improve operational efficiency through the elimination of nuisance alarms that are distracting and time-consuming for operators. The system eliminates wasted time on process interruptions by allowing users to control the importance of each alarm based on the process state and only focus on the designated high priority alarms at any given time. As with previous versions, the company claims that the new version will control and automate process plant operations so users can improve manufacturing safety, throughput and consistency while achieving cost reductions and profit improvements for their companies.

Along with the availability of Version 11.0, GSE Systems also released earlier this year D/3 Compact which it has developed for smaller automation projects that have fewer field devices to be controlled, but require the same level of functionality of GSE Systems larger D/3 Process Automation System. This system offers all the process control, including S88 application support and data acquisition capabilities, of a distributed control system.

Dion Freedman, senior vice president for GSE's Process Automation business said: "Our new features are focused on improving our customer's return on investment. Plant managers want more performance out of their assets, including the operations staff. The intelligent alarming features and other benefits we've added to the D/3 allow the operator to do more in the same amount of time. This efficiency improvement has a direct bottom line impact."
