Greif, a global leader in industrial packaging, is implementing the Greif name around the world and launching a new company identity to reflect its diversity in industrial and related packaging.
Michael Gasser, Greif's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "We begin our fiscal year with a new identity that demonstrates the successful integration of our acquisitions and shows that our entire team of 10,000 employees around the world is working together to serve our customers with more products, services and capabilities.
"With the completion of the integration of Van Leer Industrial Packaging, a worldwide business that we acquired last year, we are pleased to provide our customers with a single focus and a stronger, broader-based company," Gasser continued.
"Greif has a proud 125-year history but I am even more excited about our future, as we apply our knowledge, quality focus and strategic geographic infrastructure to help our customers be successful."
The new company identity is part of Greif's recent transformation, growing from a US regional industrial packaging supplier to a world leader. Most recently, on 7 October, Greif moved its stock listings to the New York Stock Exchange to improve shareholder value and better align with the company's global growth strategies.
"The added strengths, capabilities and infrastructure obtained through our acquisitions enable Greif to continue creating value and opportunities for customers, employees and shareholders," Gasser said. In the new identity programme, company units will use the Greif brand name. In addition, a new stylised Greif brand mark symbolises its focus on providing progressive solutions to customer needs, the company claims.
Greif's broad product line is provided through three business groups. Industrial Packaging & Services is a worldwide leader with one of the broadest offerings of industrial containers, including a variety of sizes and constructions made from steel, fibre and plastic for a multitude of industries.
Paper, Packaging & Services primarily serves niche markets in North America with containerboard medium and linerboard, corrugated sheets, corrugated containers, speciality corrugated products, transit protection products and multiwall packaging.
Finally, the Timber division includes approximately 275,000 acres in southeastern United States supplying pine timber to the pulp, saw timber and chip/saw timber industries.
Based in the US, Greif is located in more than 40 countries and its sales force is organised to support global customers with global industrial packaging needs as well as to work closely with customers at a regional level.
