The Institute of Packaging has announced a "positive and swift response" to its 'Packaging the Stars of the Future' literature, created as part of its campaign to raise awareness of Schools and Student Starpack Design Awards in the UK.

A response rate of nearly six times the national average has been recorded by the Institute from people across the country requesting information about a variety of courses and competitions organised by the Institute. Rebecca Clark, acting marketing and membership manager, said: "We've been overwhelmed by the response to our leaflet and even more delighted that the responses have been from people that we want to be in contact with.

"We've two competitions in progress at present aimed at schools and colleges: Schools Starpack Design Awards and Student Starpack Design Awards; nearly two thirds of the reply cards returned have requested information about these competitions.

"It is essential that our packaging designers of the future are encouraged and their talents nurtured, enabling them to develop creative and technically accurate designs which will benefit the entire industry in the future," Clark said.

The Institute of Packaging is the largest provider of packaging training in the UK and offers a host of training courses to suit the needs of the entire packaging industry, from packers to design technologists, including the Diploma in Packaging Technology, the new Certificate in Packaging, Corporate Partnering and EQUIPT.
