This year's BRAU Beviale show, the biggest expo for the European beverage industry, has kicked off in Nuremberg, Germany today.

Two years later the event is once again being held in Nuremberg, where the previous event attracted 1,500 exhibitors and some 37,500 visitors. This year's event runs from today, 13 November, to Friday 15 November and is billed by the organisers as the annual meeting-place for experts from the brewing industry and manufacturers of soft drinks.

As varied as the interest in BRAU Beviale may be - it ranges from raw materials, technologies and logistics to marketing strategies - the primary focus of the expo is the presentation of the latest trends and the personal exchange of views with colleagues and suppliers.

Market developments will also be a primary focus for the event. Coverage includes systematic rationalisation and process optimisation as well as investment in new beverage packages such as PET. On top of that BRAU Beviale 2002 will be focused on machinery and installations for beverage production and filling, highlighting some of the most important exhibitors in the world at present. This display is supplemented by a broad range of products, from operating and laboratory equipment to energy management, working materials and packaging materials.

Communications will play a vital part of the show, which will highlight a number of forums and presentations. Highlighting this aspect will be the accompanying Exhibitors Forum for innovative techniques and services which offers valuable information about trends and new products on the market.

Logistics is also an increasingly important aspect of the industry. BRAU Beviale will also provide a platform for companies providing intelligent logistic solutions and new sales outlets, software and services. This will include every aspect of logistics, including transport and industrial trucks to party requirements, empty container return systems and beverage vending machines.

As well as the beverage aspect of the show, many exhibitors will be touching on food and various packaging applications. There will be a host of machinery and installations as well as measurement and control technologies that will touch on these areas.

Over the next few days the FoodProductionDaily team will be bringing you all the highlights from this major event.
