Klockner Pentaplast acquires Neoplastica

Klockner Pentaplast, the global films provider, has announced that its subsidiary, Montabaur, has acquired Neoplastica of Porto, Portugal for an undisclosed sum.

Klockner Pentaplast, the global films provider, has announced that its subsidiary, Montabaur, has acquired Neoplastica of Porto, Portugal for an undisclosed sum.

With sales of €80 million, the Neoplastica group hasfour production sites in Porto, Barcelona, Vigo in Spain and Kerdrade in the Netherlands. Combined, these operations have an extrusion capacity of 50,000 tonnes for high quality multilayer films with a polyester and polystyrenebasis.

These films comprise up to seven individualcomponents and have a high protective characteristicin particular in the case of perishable and fattypackaged food goods. The company claims the packaging makes an ideal accompaniment to its rigid films range, particularly for high-quality foodpackaging. The film group already produces PVC andPET multilayers as well as monofilms.

According to Klockner, the combination of the complementary product rangesand various technological strengths of these two market leading operations has now given rise to a competent holistic supplier of rigid films in Southern Europe.

The transfer of expertise within the extendedcorporate group is set to realise immediateadvantages for customers. The group claims that the move also allows customers in that region to select from a wide range of materials and laminate types, the product that best suits them, at the same time as receiving objective advice fromprofessional film specialists.

With around 3,400 employees and 22 production sites,Klockner Pentaplast now generates sales ofwell above €1 billion per year.
