Sealed Air has received two packaging industry awards at the 15th DuPont Awards for Innovation in Packaging.
The company was recognized for its Cryovac OS Film used as the lidding in the package design for Nestle Buitoni brand fresh pasta.
The award-winning Sealed Air package merited the Diamond Award, the highest honour in the prestigious DuPont Award competition, which recognises the most significant innovation in packaging. Sealed Air also won the Gold Award in the food category, due to Cryovac OS Film's unique ability to effectively remove residual oxygen and increase shelf life, without altering the food product's appearance or taste.
The Cryovac OS Film lidding for Nestle met and exceeded all of the DuPont Award's expectations of an award-winning package.
A panel of judges selected the winner based on the degree of innovation, potential impact on the industry, breadth of application, marketing innovation of the packaging and impact of the packaging on consumer buying decisions.
The winning Sealed Air package featured excellence in both form and function, contributing to this breakthrough year for the flexible packaging industry. Sealed Air Corporation worked closely with Nestle to achieve the goals Nestle had for a new lidding material for its Buitoni pasta.
Cryovac OS Film delivers economic benefits. The added shelf life achieved through the oxygen scavenging system gives retailers more sales time between receiving the product and its expiration date, thus reducing spoilage related expenses. It also allows the manufacturer to expand the potential market by enabling the placement of the fresh pasta product in retail channels where sales velocity is slower or more variable.
Sealed Air Corporation is a leading global manufacturer of a wide range of food, protective and specialty packaging materials and systems.
