International Dispensing Corporation has announced that the US Patent and Trademark Office has allowed IDC's utility patent application for its Aseptic Gravity Flow Valve.

The allowance by the US Patent Office provides broad-based coverage for IDC's dispensing technology. Worldwide patent protection is pending, and based upon the US allowance, the company anticipates similar success worldwide.

IDC's Aseptic Gravity Flow Valve is the first commercially viable aseptic dispensing valve worldwide. IDC claims that the valve technology offers advantages to the foodservice industry including a tamper-proof closure and an extremely tight seal that serves as an excellent oxygen and bacteria barrier.

The company also claims that the dispensing valve has a clean, predictable flow rate and protects beverages, nutraceuticals and flowable foods from contaminants.

"This aseptic dispensing technology is opening new markets for food, beverage and nutraceutical companies by enabling high-end products to be safely dispensed from flexible packages," said Gary Allanson, IDC's president & CEO.

IDC customised the valve for Goodwest Industries' Cream Machine, an aseptic cream and milk dispenser, used extensively in foodservice, specialty coffee and convenience stores.

IDC, a US-based research and development company develops packaging and aseptic dispensing technologies for the foodservice industry worldwide.
