Pennexx Foods, a leading provider of case-ready meat to US supermarkets, is teaming up with Marel USA, a subsidiary of one of the world's leading developers of high-tech food industry equipment, to create a state-of-the-art case-ready facility.
At its new Philadelphia plant, Pennexx is installing Marel's meat processing flowline technology, which combines an equipment solution with a user-friendly live software system. Key product and manufacturing information is continuously monitored.
Dan Bernkopf, Marel's vice president of Meat Division, explained: "We have combined our core equipment and software applied technologies to attain Pennexx's standard of excellence in case-ready processing and production control."
Michael Queen, president and CEO of Pennexx said: "Once we complete the consolidation into our new facility and begin production, we anticipate that the new processing lines will improve production flow from preparation to packing and improve overall yield. By running at optimal capacity, we will be in a strong position to meet the growing demand of case-ready meat from our retail customers."
Marel USA is the US subsidiary of Marel, a publicly held Icelandic company, which was established in 1986 in Reykjavik. Marel's network of subsidiaries, agents and distributors covers over 30 countries on six continents, serving the meat, fish and poultry industries.
