Aetna UK and Weitek have jointly introduced a number of new technologies which the companies claim will revolutionise the bagging of dried and liquid foods.
The de-aeration system comprises a special vertical screw system which is designed to transfer and de-aerate the powder product from the weigher discharge hopper into the bag. This is a very important development and will take de-aeration technology for bag filling of powders one step further, the companies said.
Although tests are being carried out on many different products, this system has already proven it is capable, in some cases, of doubling the product bulk density from weigher to bag, they added.
Meanwhile, the companies have also introduced the MFM 600 bagging system. This is a low speed bagging machine offering all the technical advantages and benefits normally associated with high speed and price.
The system can be fitted with an optional bag mouth cleaning prior to the sealing process. In most bagging plants, the bag bottom is the datum point causing the ullage of the bag top to vary. This effects the presentation of the bag in terms of the bag top seal (variable height and not always horizontal).
For the MFM, the bag top is the datum, ensuring the bag top closure is reliable and repeatable offering the best presentation available.
