Commerce One, the Business Internet Company, has announced that it will help Kellogg Company publish critical product information relating to future packaging design.

By participating in the UCCnet Global registry - a repository of standards-based product information - Kellogg Company aims to reduce costs, accelerate product introductions and improve collaboration with manufacturers and retailers in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.

Commerce One helps companies add their product information to the registry so that retailers can easily find products for their stores and integrate correct item information with their internal systems.

"Kellogg Company understands the advantages of working closely with suppliers and retail partners to streamline activities related to product data," said Ray Shei, Kellogg Company vice president and chief information officer.

"We aim to help Kellogg Company collaborate more efficiently with partners and customers by helping them comply with industry product information standards," said Mark Hoffman, CEO and chairman of Commerce One. "Commerce One has the knowledge of the CPG industry and expertise with UCCnet integration to help Kellogg Company achieve a successful UCCnet implementation."

"This agreement will translate into critical internal savings for Shaw's both in terms of time to market and administrative effort as new items become available in the Kellogg line of products," said Jim Sheehan, director of e-commerce of Shaw's Supermarkets.
