Praxair, the US-based provider of gas related services to the food and beverage industry, has opened its North American Specialty Gas Customer Technical Support Center, based at the company's Pennsylvania facility.

The centre, run by Praxair Distribution, provides specialty gas product sourcing support, custom mixture quotes and technical assistance for specialty gas equipment. Customers can also get information on material compatibility as well as gas handling equipment recommendations.

"The technical support centre is available to any buyer of Praxair specialty gases and related equipment," explained Praxair Distribution's business director of Specialty Gas Products Tom Archie. "By providing quick, accurate and easy-to-understand answers to technical questions, we believe we have created an unbeatable combination of one-stop, first-class service and support for specialty gas customers."

Before the centre was established, customers had to call Praxair's production plants and specialty gases laboratories in their regions for answers to their technical questions and for product sourcing inquiries.

"Now a single phone call reaches our technical support specialists who have the knowledge of Praxair's specialty gases capability, and can respond quickly and easily," said technical support centre manager Tina Lindsay. "It's a cost-efficient, customer-focused approach that ensures consistent, accurate responses; and improved productivity at our plants."

Praxair Distribution and its subsidiaries provide a full range of industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding supplies, beverage carbonation and homecare services in the US and Canada. PDI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Praxair.
