Italian company CGTI, Classica Group Technologies, subsidiary of the Classica Group, is to supply Nestle's Nestec product technology centre in Switzerland with a microwave heat processing system.
The system is the first of a new generation of multi-function laboratory scale systems that combine the capabilities of sterilisation, pasteurisation and drying - all in one platform. This combination enables food manufacturing companies with a diverse product line to optimise their R&D capital investment for process equipment and for pilot plant facilities space.
"Successful cooperation between our companies in this project will lead to a mutually beneficial outcome for us both," said Dr. Joseph Riemer, vice-president of corporate development for Classica Microwave Technologies.
"For Nestle it will enhance their capabilities to introduce new products and to improve the quality, safety and costs of their current products. For Classica it may generate demand for its patented, industrial scale microwave systems, which can be installed in manufacturing plants worldwide, to produce those products," he added.
The agreement provides a four-month initial lease term at the end of which Nestec has the option to purchase the system.
