UK packaging firm Rexam Combibloc has been renamed, following a change of ownership.
The company, which is based in Houghton-le-Spring, was established in 1974 and operated as a joint venture between SIG and Rexam for 28 years. In January SIG purchased Rexam's 70 per cent share in the packaging company, leading to the change of name.
SIG Combibloc supplies liquid carton packaging, filling machinery and support services to leading manufacturers in the juice, dairy and liquid food markets across the UK and Europe.
The Houghton-le-Spring operation has a turnover in excess of £29 million (€46m) and employs more than 170 staff.
SIG Combibloc is one of the world's leading system manufacturers of beverage cartons and filling machines, employing more than 3,200 employees. It has an annual turnover of £541 million.
