The US-based manufacturer of industrial electrical connectors and North American master distributor of ILME rectangular connectors works with Coca Cola, ABB and Nestlé, and has launched a series of classic port adapters rated IP65 in a black plastic shell.
Port adapter is more economical
Mark Dixon, marketing manager, Mencom Corp, told FoodProductionDaily the plastic version of the port adapter is more economical than metal versions.
“We are there to assist these companies with their conversions when cables or connectors need to be replaced,” he said.
“Our clients had constantly requested a port adapter also known as a programming port that can endure harsh manufacturing environments.
“To respond to this, we launched the low profile plastic port adapter. The sealed and rugged product can provide the same high quality data flow while offering savings on the metal version. We also offer a low profile nickel plated brass shell for harsher environments.”
According to Dixon, the plastic version of the port adapter offers better efficiency and appearance when installed on a panel. They also have a RJ45, USB Type A, or USB Type B connector potted inside the plastic shell and can be mounted to a cabinet.
New website for mobile users
Mencom Corporation recently launched a website which will be updated with news of product launches, industry information, corporate milestones and events.
The site has a checkout page for customers who want to buy products directly from their mobile device.
“Mobile internet usage has rapidly increased in the past year and our website analysis showed a large portion of online visitors come from mobile devices. We decided to adapt to this online trend by providing a better experience to mobile users,” added Dixon.
He said the main challenge today is making sure customers understand the difference between its product, and less expensive, cheaper imports, to make an educated decision when they choose electrical connectors.
“We see connectors being imported to the US from many emerging countries, at very low costs. However, you have to take the time to compare the quality of what you are getting for your money,” said Dixon.
“If you pay half as much money, but burn through twice as many connectors, you are not really getting a deal by choosing the cheapest.
“We are also in the final design phase of a MIL-SPEC type connector that should be released to production later this year.
“There are a lot of companies out there that need a Military Spec type connector for industrial use, but do not necessarily need the connector to have all the classifications a MIL-SPEC connector must have to be used in government projects.”
Mencom Corporation is exhibiting at Pack Expo 2015 (September 28-30) in Las Vegas where it will be presenting a range of industrial electrical connector products including, m12 connectors, cordsets, receptacles, network connectors, rectangular connectors, panel interface connectors and junction blocks.
